“ If you're in Carolina beach and you don't go here than you might as well not come. So good get the crab legs and chowda!!!!!!!!!!!!' ”
“ Back to Michael's at Carolina Beach! What a great place. We tried the Sampler appetizer: two small crab cakes, bacon wrapped scallops and tempura shrimp. My wife got the Penne Rachelle and I got the Shrimp and Scallop linguini. Great food, great service. Nothing is fried. Good atmosphere. They were not packed at lunch, but had a good flow of customers. We took leftovers home and a piece of Key Lime Pie. ”
“ We were seated immediately, which is a plus for me. The service was very helpful, and she was pleasant. The food is what knocked off a star for me. It was tasty, but it was lacking presentation. I had the "beef and reef" which is basically steak and a cluster of crab legs. Dessert was Bananas Foster, which was lip smacking good. Overall, it was a good experience but it wasn't 5 star worthy. ”
“ This was a really good meal. I mean really good. Sad day for us. It would have been my mother-in-law's 89th birthday, but instead, we were scattering her ashes at the Rocks at Fort Fisher. It was a cold, blustery day and we had been on the road a few hours prior. It was time for some lunch before continuing on to Myrtle Beach for the week. I did a little pre-work and Michael's seemed well reviewed. I asked the market price of the peel and eat shrimp (I hadn't noticed there was a standee on the table with the prices) and our waiter told me $11 for the peel and eat, $13 for the peeled and deveined. He added, "It's a better deal for the peeled and deveined, you get more." I said that sounds great, "I was going to order the jambalaya if the prices were more similar." He stared me dead in the eyes, "I'm from Louisiana, you want the jambalaya, they do it right here." So, I ordered it. But he wasn't done with commentary. "I do need to tell you, it comes garnished with crawfish," and before I could say that's fine, I like sucking the juices out of a crawfish head he continued, "but recently the crawfish we were sent weren't that great. So, we'll swap out the crawfish for mussels if that's okay." I actually love mussels, so that was fine by me. And it was great. Nice big shrimp. Bits of gator and crawfish. Not much spice, but they have a few hot sauces on the table and Tabasco suits jambalaya just fine. My wife got salmon piccata and my mother got tuna piccata. They were both super happy with them. Their broccoli (veg of the day) was fresh and delicious. My wife's rice actually had some orzo in it, so more like rice-a-roni, and it was really good. And mom also had some coleslaw, which might be the weak link of the meal. Not that it was bad or anything, it just wasn't as good as hers (or what we recently had at a deli back home in NC). Didn't hurt the meal, but I'd say don't get the coleslaw, pick another side. ”
“ Some of the Best Service on the island. Seafood is fresh and not much is fried. Very busy year round and that's one of the best signs to just come and give it a try. ”
“ My friend brought me here for my birthday lunch today. We got there shortly after they opened. I had the Mahi fresh caught, friend had salmon. Food was fresh and delicious! Service was good too. They do not give a birthday free dessert. So we went and had ice cream in downtown by the water. Parking lot is very small, so come early for best service. ”
“ Great food, with a fantastic variety. Lots of different specials regularly. They don't take reservations and often there is a wait. The tables are tight. But overall if you are down here in carolina for the beach this place is well worth a checkout. ”
“ This spot was good. Seafood was fresh. Drinks were tasty (could have gone for 1 more round) and servers are friendly and attentive. Water at the place really sucks. Add lots of lemon. Must be an island/beach thing. ”
“ We visit Carolina Beach often but never went to Michael's - now we've tried it and will add it to our list of regular spots! The inside of the restaurant has a fun, casual tiki vibe. I ordered the pasta Alfredo with blackened chicken. It was delicious - the blackened chicken was great and added flavor to the pasta. Others in my party got the clam chowder (loved), hush puppies (a daily special, important to note they have corn chunks inside), shrimp & grits, seafood lasagna, and a burger. All got great reviews. My sister was very impressed by the gluten free bun on the burger - said it was the best she's ever had! ”
“ Plenty of seating but we opted for a bar high top to avoid waiting. Located along the main road in a strip mall, Michael's is not one to miss. The seafood chowder had chunks of seafood and wasn't as salty as I anticipated. The snow crab legs were fresh and meaty, and so were the crab cake bites, but they were more on the saltier side. I would've gotten a salad or something more fresh to pair with the crab cakes but great spot for fresh seafood ”
